This document provides answers to frequently asked questions regarding Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). It clarifies aspects of the Directive, which came into force on August 13, 2012, and was required to be transposed into national law by February 14, 2014, repealing Directive 2002/96/EC. The FAQ aims to aid competent authorities and economic operators in interpreting the Directive to ensure compliance with its requirements. This "living document" may be updated by the European Commission as experience with implementation evolves.
