Policy on Power Battery Recycling in China: A Procuratorate's Perspective

Abstract/summary

With the increasing global attention to environmental protection and sustainable development, the market share of new energy vehicles is growing year by year. Consequently, there is an explosive growth in demand for power batteries. As the core component of new energy vehicles, the production, use, recycling and disposal of power lithium battery have also garnered widespread concern. Due to the high capacity requirement, the general service life of the new energy vehicle power battery is 5~8 years. China is about to confront its first wave of power battery "retirement" peak. The recycling of waste power lithium battery has become a focal point of attention. Recently, the Supreme People's Procuratorate organized a research group to visit Jiangsu Changzhou to investigate policies regarding waste power lithium battery recycling. The research group identified deficiencies in existing policy and proposed corresponding solutions from the perspective of the procuratorate.
