Abstract/summary

With the support of World Wide Fund for Nature in Viet Nam (WWF-Viet Nam) through the project “Mitigating marine plastic debris in Viet Nam”, with the aim to support MONRE in developing and finalization of Decree detailing a number of articles of Law on Environmental Protection 2020, from April to July 2021, Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment has conducted research and survey on level of readiness of SMEs in the plastics industry in implemenation of regulations on EPR. The objective of the study is to assess the advantages and disadvantages of enterprises in manufacturing, importing and using packaging and plastic recycling enterprises; analyzing the feasibility and level of readiness of enterprises and proposing solutions, roadmap for implementation of EPR in the near future. The survey results will reflect the problems, shortcomings and recommendations from SMEs in the plastics industry, thereby contributing to the development and finalization of EPR regulations in the Decree guiding the implementation of Law on Environmental Protection 2020 to ensure high feasibility for sucessful application in the near future.
