However, after decades of implementation, EPR systems have shown mixed results in reducing environmental impact and advancing circular economy principles. This study critically examines the performance of EPR systems worldwide, focusing on their effectiveness in waste reduction, reuse promotion, and ensuring a just transition for waste workers.
