Urbanisation, economic growth, advancement in technology and consumerism has not only advanced human lives but has contributed to the generation of a marked waste stream called electronic waste (e-waste). India, being the third largest generator of e-waste globally is facing concerns regarding the management of e-waste. The Government of India with their recent Extended Producers’ Responsibility under its E-Waste Management Rules, 2011 makes the producer of electronic products an important player in the formal management of e-waste. The present study focuses on producers as the stakeholder in e-waste management. By conducting content analysis of in-depth interviews of six experts from organisations that manufacture electronic products, the present study explores the perspective of producers towards e-waste management and offers preliminary insights into the barriers and enablers that inhibit or facilitate the producers in managing the e-waste. The study provides implications for producers and government that shall be beneficial for policy-making and provide managerial decision-support.
