Media coverage on issues surrounding plastics has increased exponentially and is showing no signs of slowing down. Images of massive quantities of plastics floating around on our oceans have been one of the main drivers of new worldwide awareness. Countering these grim images are a plethora of new approaches to finding solutions that keep getting more and more ingenious and innovative! This ample amount of awareness puts a lot of pressure on companies to do better, particularly regarding how they package their goods. An eco-design facilitator In Quebec, Éco Entreprises Québec (ÉEQ), the organization that manages the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program for recyclable materials - containers, packaging and printer matter or CP&PM - has chosen to go well beyond its initial mandate as collectors to finance municipal curbside recycling services. The organization provides companies with free support and guidance for their efforts regarding packaging eco-design.
